Construction of this design/build roughly 33,500 square-foot building designed by the architectural firm of Dekker/Perich/ Sabatini should be completed in late 2013, with an estimated project cost of $8.3 million. This includes $7.1 million for construction of the facility and $1.2 million for site preparation and paving. The current facility was built in 1957, for a staff of 25 employees, and has served the coop well over the years. Now at 80 employees the building has exceeded its useful life. Ultimately, the new building will be much more energy efficient and cost-effective to operate while offering enhanced services for members. CVE has decided to heat and cool the building using geothermal technologies.
